Series: Burn for Burn # 2
When
sweet revenge turns sour… Book two of a trilogy from New York Times,
bestselling author Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian.
Lillia, Kat, and Mary had the perfect plan. Work together in secret to take down the people who wronged them. But things didn’t exactly go the way they’d hoped at the Homecoming Dance.
Not even close.
For now, it looks like they got away with it. All they have to do is move on and pick up the pieces, forget there ever was a pact. But it’s not easy, not when Reeve is still a total jerk and Rennie’s meaner than she ever was before.
And then there’s sweet little Mary…she knows there’s something seriously wrong with her. If she can’t control her anger, she’s sure that someone will get hurt even worse than Reeve was. Mary understands now that it’s not just that Reeve bullied her—it’s that he made her love him.
Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, burn for a burn. A broken heart for a broken heart. The girls are up to the task. They’ll make Reeve fall in love with Lillia and then they will crush him. It’s the only way he’ll learn.
It seems once a fire is lit, the only thing you can do is let it burn...

It’s just like always. Everyone wants a piece of Reeve. Most of them will never get it. But I had it once.
“Thank
you.” I say it and I truly mean it, from the bottom of my heart. Because there
is one big difference between then and now. Now I have friends looking out for
me.
“I’m
happy for her,” I say and I mean it, I really do. If Rennie and Reeve are
officially a thing now, maybe she’ll finally get over what happened at
homecoming and things can go back to how they were before. And at the very
least, they deserve each other.
It’s
crazy, how similar we are. Here’s both of us, working through our stuff, trying
to make something positive out of something really bad.
This book picks up right where the last one picked off. If you haven’t read the first book in this series, then I would encourage not to read this review. Go read it and then come back! The story picks up right after the big Homecoming Dance after the huge disaster and after the girls have drugged Reeve. I was so excited to pick up with Lillia, Mary, and Kat and while this book didn’t get the five cupcakes that I wanted it to, it still is a must read for anyone addicted to this series! The main premise that drives this book is still Mary’s desire to see Reeve fall for humiliating her all those years ago. Mary’s grand idea is for Lillia to lead Reeve on because he obviously has the hots for her, and then for Lillia to dump him and humiliate him in front of all their friends and the whole school!
Honestly,
I didn’t think this premise was going to be enough to carry readers through
this book. This book is even longer than the first and it took so long to ever
find out what scheme the girls had dreamed up this time around. I was wondering
when we were going to see some action. However, when Mary finally makes her
request known to Lillia and Kat, then things get good! Lillia, can’t stand
Reeve at first, but agrees to help out her friend. Lillia is also in a little
feud with Lennie, as I am sure we are all aware from the first book. I cannot
stand Lennie, so I was happy to see this take place. I do not want to spoil anything
about Reeve and Lillia, but please read and find out what happens between them!
Again, I love the drama between this set of characters. It never fails to
please me!
What
keeps this series alive for me is still the fact that Kat, Lillia, and Mary are
all so different. If I was not able to go inside each of their mind’s, then I probably
wouldn’t like the book as much. Their lives are so different and they each
bring different characteristics and quirks to the threesome. They are each out
for themselves in a way, but that is what makes this a highly dramatic and
suspenseful read. I am always wondering who is going to be mad or pissed off at
whom next. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I hope we get even
more secrets and hot romances!
