Book Review: The Goodbye Witch

The Goodbye Witch (A Wishcraft Mystery, #4)Author: Heather Blake
Publication Date: May 6, 2014
Publisher: Signet
Series: A Wishcraft Mystery # 4

As Enchanted Village’s resident Wishcrafter, Darcy Merriweather has the power to make other people’s wishes come true, but what she really wishes is that she had the power to uncloak the invisible man who’s stalking her best friend....

Darcy’s closest friend and fellow witch, Starla Sullivan, hoped she’d never see her ex-husband, Kyle, again. Two years ago he tried to kill her, and he has been a fugitive ever since. Now Starla claims to have seen him back in Enchanted Village, but it seems she’s the only one who can see him. To everyone else, her ex is invisible.

Darcy only wishes his motives were as transparent as the rest of him. Since the police can’t arrest someone they can’t see, it’s up to Darcy to find the secret behind Kyle’s latest disappearing act—before he does something they can’t see coming….

“Do you think I can get away with murder?”

The Bewitching Boutique was a magical place where even the least fashionable witch (like me) could find an outfit that made her feel amazing.

His eyes flashed. “He has returned to seek revenge.”

Darcy Merriweather and I have such a special relationship. The reason I say this is because the first book in this series, It Takes A Witch, was the first book I ever reviewed when I first started blogging. I have always had a soft spot for cozy mysteries, and this series is one that I will always remember. The fourth book in this series was no different from the rest. Heather Blake draws me in with the suspense and drama shared by her characters and their stories every time. This book gets a little more personal because this time around it is Darcy’s friend, Starla, who is in trouble. But of course, we can always count on Darcy to come to the rescue!

The Enchanted Village is one of my absolute settings to read about. And this is also one of the reasons why I would recommend this series to anyone who is interested. Blake has developed the Enchanted Village so much over the series so far, and readers are able to learn more and more through each new book. There is just nothing better than that! At first, we are introduced to this quaint little town, and the more we read the more we learn about all its tricks and trades!

As I mentioned earlier, this book focuses on a more personal problem for Darcy and the problem focuses around her best friend, Starla. These two have been so close from the very start of this series. This book really had some great messages behind it, mainly relating to the idea of what it means to be a true friend. Darcy is ready for action and will do anything to protect her friend. This mystery felt a little more suspenseful than the others. I was biting my nails the whole way through!

***A free copy of this book was provided to me by the publishers at Signet in exchange for my honest review***
