Release Day Book Review: Some Like It Witchy

Some Like It Witchy (A Wishcraft Mystery, #5)Author: Heather Blake
Publication Date: May 5, 2015
Publisher: NAL
Series: A Wishcraft Mystery # 5

Wishcrafter Darcy Merriweather can charm desires into reality, but as the national bestselling Wishcraft mysteries continue, she won’t be able to magically avoid trouble when death holds an open house….

The Enchanted Village is abuzz when the old Tavistock house finally goes up for sale. Darcy’s friend Curecrafter Cherise Goodwin is hoping she will have the winning bid on the home, but Darcy can’t shake the feeling that something bad is about to happen—and her magical instincts are usually right.

Sure enough, while Darcy and Cherise are looking at the property, they discover real estate agent Raina Gallagher stone-cold dead on the floor. Clutched in her hand is a gemstone amulet and, on the wall above her, a large red A. While Raina had no shortage of enemies, there’s also a dark legend about the house itself. To track down the killer, Darcy must unlock the secrets of both the deceased and the estate—and she’ll need to act fast, because revenge is a deal that never closes.…

Something wicked this way came.

There was evil in the air, whirling around as surely as the magic that made this village so special.

Being enchanted, however, didn’t mean this village was immune to wickedness. There’d been several murders here over the past eleven months.

If Cinderella’s fairy godmother had a cool hip sister, it would be Cherise.

Darcy Merriweather, the leading lady and our heroine, has come a long way since book one and I am happy to say that I have followed this series since book one. I am also happy to say that I think this series has only gotten better since book one too! If you are new to this series and are worried about catching up, I can confidently say that you do not need to worry if you have not read the other books in the series because Heather Blake does an excellent job of giving enough background information about the characters and what has happened in past books to catch any reader up. Darcy is, as always, my favorite character from the series, and I think her character has developed more than I ever expected her to. It is always fun to link back up with her and solve mysteries in The Enchanted Village.

The setting makes this series all the more enjoyable to follow. The Enchanted Village has a cozy charm to it and is full of a cast of characters that show up in each new book in the series. The same familiar characters are there to help Darcy solve the mystery and this time it is a diamond heist! This was quite the mystery for the people of the Enchanted Village. These books are a great mix of something supernatural, bewitching, fun, and full of enchanting characters! I recommend this book and series to fans and new readers!
